Food Drive for Senior Citizens — Mathare

Food insecurity affects thousands of elderly residents in Nairobi's informal settlements. Many survive on less than one meal a day, with no reliable source of income or family support. Our monthly food drive in Mathare aims to change that. Each month, we purchase bulk supplies of maize flour, rice, beans, cooking oil, and fresh vegetables, then distribute them to registered senior citizens in the community. In our most recent drive, we supported 50 households, each receiving enough food for approximately two weeks. The program is growing — we hope to expand to 100 households by mid-2025, with support from corporate partners and individual donors.
